What I thought of Disney's EPCOT park

📍 Bay Lake, FL

At the end of May this year, Chris and I spent the day at Disney’s EPCOT park, and we had an absolute blast! I wanted to take a moment to write down some of my thoughts and memories from our visit while they’re still fresh.

EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, a concept envisioned by Walt Disney himself. The park officially opened on October 1, 1982, and it was the second of the four theme parks to open at Walt Disney World. Personally, I had such a great time that I’d rank EPCOT as one of my favourite Disney parks, second only to Animal Kingdom!

What I found so fascinating about EPCOT is that it’s not just about thrilling rides (although those are fun too). The park feels like a journey around the world, thanks to its World Showcase, which features beautifully themed pavilions representing different countries. We visited: Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Morocco, Japan, Italy, Germany, China, Norway, the United States, and Mexico.

Each area had its own unique food, drinks, and architecture, staying true to the culture it represented. The cast members working in each country were often native speakers or fluent in the language, which added a lovely, authentic touch to the whole experience.

My favourite pavilion was definitely France. It brought back so many memories of my trip to Paris with my mom. From the charming architecture and flower-lined streets to the cozy cafés and even a Guerlain perfume boutique, it all felt so beautifully familiar. I was genuinely delighted by how detailed and immersive it was.

Of course, we also made time for some rides and attractions outside the country pavilions. One ride that stood out (unfortunately not in the best way) was Mission: SPACE. I chose the Orange Mission, which simulates a rocket launch using spinning centrifuge motion to create real G-forces. Let’s just say... it did not agree with me! I felt extremely dizzy afterward. Lesson learned: next time, I’ll opt for the Green Mission, which is the less intense version.

All in all, we had an amazing time. EPCOT gave us a chance to experience a little taste of the world, enjoy some great food, and make wonderful memories together.
